Upload an Image

Uploading an image to Cascade CMS is done through the Common Asset Factory, using the red plus sign for adding content. This method ensures that the appropriate metadata is included with the image, making it search-engine friendly, and 508 compliant for persons with disabilities.

To upload an image:
  1. In the Site Content tree on the left, click on the _assets folder. Then click on the images folder or a subfolder within the images folder.

    Tip

Select a folder by hovering over the asset name and clicking on the arrow that appears to the right of the asset name. The contents of that folder will display on the right hand side of the page.

  2. Look for a red plus sign in the topmost header area of the page, and click on Red plus sign to add content Add Content.
  3. Inside the Common folder, select Image from the dropdown menu.

    Add Image

  4. Drag and drop an image from somewhere on your computer into the browser window, or choose one from your computer. The File Name will automatically populate with the file name previously given to the image. Fill in the Alternative Text.

    Tip

The File Name should include the image dimensions at the end, e.g. student-center-480x320. This will help when you are inserting the image into a page. The purpose of Alternative Text is to provide a description of the contents of an image file. One of the most common uses of Alternative Text is to provide text for visitors who can't see images in their browsers.
