"My" Sites

"My" Sites are exactly like other branded offerings in the CMS. The only difference is that accessing the site and any/all of its contents are restricted to specific internal sub-groups defined when the site is set up.

"My" Sites

These sites are typically defined during the strategic phase of a project and can be used to present a Website that is only for a specific sub-audience. This is not "portal" because the site does not contain self-managed widgets/display options, connectors to internal software, or a personalized presentation of content.

"My" Sites can be set-up to limit access only to some of the largest audiences at UM. So for example, a site that is accessible to all University faculty and staff. Or a site that is accessible only to current students. If additional granularity is required, an Office 365 Site or Google Site is probably a better solution.

my.web.miami.edu

My.Web is a special site that everyone with a 'Cane ID can login to. The site serves two important functions:

  1. Allows anyone to share information about Websites they manage or participate in contributing to. ALL UM EMPLOYEES SHOULD REGISTER ALL UM SITES HERE, regardless if the site is hosted by our Cascade Server offering or not. The site allows the Web team to capture a sense of all Websites at UM.

  2. Allows access to "Tag Manager" resource that is used by pages in the Hannon Hill Cascade Server CMS. The tags added can be leveraged to display "related" content on Web pages.
