Primary Brand Sites

A Primary Brand collection can consist of multiple sites if needed. One site can feature the Primary Brand's Primary Landing Page (the main homepage for all the sites in the collection), and any number of subsites can be created that match the Primary Brand.

Primary Brand: Master Site

The Primary Brand Collection can have one site that features a Primary Landing Page as its homepage, and can have any number of matching Subsites with their own homepages and navigation. The people who own the sites decide whether they should nest all pages within one large Primary Brand Master Site or break up content into a main site that links to multiple subsites.

Primary Brand: Subsite

Primary Brand Subsites look very similar to their Master site counterparts, with some slight variations. Some of those variations are itemized below.

Examples of Primary Brand Sites

  • The School of Nursing and Health Studies homepage uses a Primary Landing Page for their Primary Master Brand site. They use the same Primary Brand for their departmental program subsites: PhD program and Doctor of Nursing program. Notice that the subsites match the color scheme of the main site, but the universal navigation style (background color) slightly changes (as well as the logo/signature) to indicate that the person has moved from a Primary Brand main site to a Primary Brand subsite. In addition, the School uses a Complementary brand scheme for its centers, like El Centro. Note how the Complementary brand's purple masthead background color is slightly different than what is presented on the Primary Brand. This subtle, yet distinct set of differences can establish the right mount of brand independance while still remaining firmly enclosed within the scheme set for the entire suite.

  • Here is the Student Affairs Primary Master Brand homepage versus their Wellness Center subsite, which presents a Primary Brand subsite scheme.

  • Here is the Alumni main site, and an Alumni subsite. Both are using Alumni's Primary Brand scheme, but one site is the main site and the other is a subsite.
