Searchblox Project

The university started a group to evaluate and select a new Enterprise Web Search platform for all of our public facing websites.  The group was composed of individuals from UM IT, university communications, the schools and colleges, and major departments.

The search group met 10 times over 4 months to discuss the solutions.  Updates were presented to the Web Advisory Group in July for feedback

Final meeting to select solution

Another key factor in this decision was timing.  Our current Google Search Appliance license will expire December 22, 2018 with no chance of renewal.  We need a quick feature rich solution to be in place before that date so we can cleanly transition all the web sites to the new solution.

The search group recommends that the University implements the SearchBlox solution for enterprise web search.  This solution met all of our requirements, plus provided additional features that set this product above the others.
